Ah, okay. I didn't know that.

That's what's happening for me when I try to add Man's Best Friend and Let's Give Them Something to Talk About.

I wonder if it has something to do with the apostrophe in the titles? That seems to be a common factor.

Good call, Barbara. All mine worked and none of them have apostrophes.

We're not allowed to link our stories to our NFA Author Board? I never saw that part... Should I redo the links?

You can, but if you have them on the Story Board, that's the preferred method, because then we don't have to go in and approve them.

You are allowed. But if you have a story already on the Story Board (for instance, when you have challenge entries which must be posted to the Story Board), we want you to use those links instead of the author board links. If you're like me and only post what you have to post on the Story Board, i.e. challenge entries, then you can use your author board for everything else.

Okay, well, I did all of my links to my Author Board. But all of my stories are also on the Story Board. Would you like me to change the links?

There should be a pull-down list of all your stories on the Story Board when you go into My Eligible. Just pick the story you want to add and what categories it's eligible in and you should be good. But I don't know if it's necessary that you re-do them . . . I don't know.

I went through the current eligibility list and had to remove several stories from the Outstanding Ficlet category for having more than 1,000 words, and also from Outstanding Never Ending Story for having fewer than 25,000 words.

I just wanted to let everyone know that is part of the admin process. If you know you have tagged a story as eligible and you don't see it, double check the eligibility to see if it truly fits the category. There is a chance that you tagged it, but it has been removed by a staff member.

OK, seeing that, I thought I would be clever and edit the title to remove the apostrophe. Bad idea. Somehow I managed to enter it twice. And now I can't delete the duplicates. I think it doesn't like me.

Okay, we can do that. What is the story again?

Having caused havoc in MTAC about this, I am now posting here to suggest the Hinky site category definitions be spelt out in more detail and remind people to read them.

There has always been debate about what categories certain stories fall into and now authors are getting to decide rather than readers, the same problem remain - categories are subjective. That is, except, for word count which is fairly quantitative.

I should say, the categories this year seem much more concise than in previous years. No random Gibbs/Shannon ones by themselves for example but I still wonder "why?" on a couple. I have no idea why, for example, the Het category is divided into FR8-FR15 and FR18+ and the Friendship category isn't, given there are both types in there. But then again, I have no idea why a past story of mine about McGee being kidnapped by crazy grannies who strip him naked and threaten him with knitting needles was nominated for "Angst".

And I wonder why there is no category for straight drama that tells a story, without having a suspense, angst, torture or death scene, and which isn't a case file.
