It felt kinda random, for sure.

I still am not over that Gibbs & Vance fight/argument/what have you. Oh man. That was intense & I didn't know I needed it until it happened. There will be much rewatching of that scene.

Loved Tony's comment near the beginning... Something like "had lots of fun with Mr Gibbs in the surveillance van." Bahaha.

When I said I had a sick feeling, my mom and I both were concerned that somehow, it was gonna turn out that Papa Gibbs was actually murdered and Alejandro would be involved. It reminded of the series finale of Walker, Texas Ranger. Earlier in the season, CD Parker had apparently died of a heart attack. In the series finale, it was discovered that he was actually poisoned and that the effects of the poison had mimicked a heart attack.

So, basically, when I saw Marco Sanchez show up in the guest credits at the beginning, I was like, "What the heck would he be doing on here?!" And just a little ways into the show, my mom and I thought, "Oh dear. Maybe Papa Gibbs was murdered." But thank the good Lord that wasn't the case. :)

And golly cheez, this would only be the second that I know of that there wasn't a cliffhanger in the season finale. Weird. :)

That was nicely done. Touching, but not overly sentimental.

Wasn't expecting there to be so much Team stuff, so that was a nice surprise. Tony was allowed to be awesome two episodes in a row - joking around, but immediately the serious capable leader when he had to be (and no-one sniping at him or questioning his authority - hooray!). I loved the scene with Vance where Tony politely and respectfully questioned the no phone calls instruction - Tony knows his boss so well.

Yay for McGee getting some action in the field again - though Sean still can't run for toffee! (I got the feeling Emily was trying desperately not to overtake him when they were chasing to bad guy at the beginning - bless ;D ).

Wasn't thrilled to see Ally-han-dro again, but it made sense in the context of the episode, While Gibbs was honouring Jackson, he was doing the same for his father in his own warped and twisted way. Just so long as we don't see him again...

Good job team :ncis:

I thought the portions relating to Jackson were nicely done, especially the closing scene. Gibbs truly is a tragic figure; he's lost so much in his life.

Because of the strong opinions regarding the Reynosa storyline, in my opinion the Rivera subplot took away from the episode in that it was merely there.

It doesn't lessen the rest of the episode, but the Rivera subplot being there is going to put off some viewers, and the writers could have told the same story with different characters without changing the episode.

I'm glad this season didn't end on a cliffhanger (like NCIS LA and most other shows) and on a downer like last season. Despite the loss of Cote, Season 11 was one of the more fun and positive seasons in the show's run. I'd like to see more of the same next season, plus a crossover. CarterMatt.com "expects at least one or two" with NCIS NOLA and NCIS LA, and I'd like to see one with another CBS show - maybe Criminal Minds, or CSI, or The Mentalist.

I would just love to see more crossovers between the NCIS family of shows. There are some awesome characters that need to be on screen with each other YESTERDAY (Hetty/Gibbs scenes, pleeeeeeeease???)

I know, right? :'(

I did think the sudden appearance of Alejandro and the people trying to kill Gibbs felt a little random, but overall, it was a nice episode. I like the lack of a cliffhanger, for a change. When I told Mr. Keys that it was the finale, he looked confused and said "And no one died?" ;D

I thought the first assassin's attempt was actually quite clever.

That cracked me up so much! :lol2: Oh Tones, ya big weirdo :lol2: :bow-blue: :smitten:

I must confess, even though I'd picked up on bits and pieces because I'm so far behind, that bit about why he builds boats just got to me and I cried :'( That was such a perfect bit of insight into who Gibbs is and why he does what he does. It was also really nice to see his mom again; I don't know if any character epitomises perfect casting quite as well as Ralph Waite did, but I always felt she was a great choice, very warm and just... kind seeming, and it was lovely to see her reprise the role.

(I didn't have strong feelings either way about the Reynosa storyline; I'm one of the few (apparently) who didn't hate it to start with, but I felt like its inclusion in this episode was a bit random and didn't add a lot. I felt like this episode was all about Jackson, really. If they weren't gonna have a case, it would've been better if it was a bit more connected OR a random, unrelated case that resonated but didn't directly impinge on the A storyline (kinda like in Life Before His Eyes). This one was Gibbs centric but still felt disconnected, and it was just a really odd combination. Gibbs dad dies and by the way he's got assassins after him is just... I dunno, it seemed really peculiar as a writing choice. Though tbh I don't think it detracted too much because it was for the most part nothing-y enough to just ignore.)

It really was. I think I personally could've lost most of the casefile and been happy :P but as a tribute to both actor and character, it was touching and lovely, and I'm so glad they used episode 24 to do that.
