Pat, a lot of gyms these days have what they call Spinning Classes, which are group work-out classes on stationary bikes. Some people shorten this to just "Spinning" :)

I wrote a story once called Spinning Madly On.

Maybe things are spinning out of control.

Just read this , "“Spinning Wheel” – After Ducky is attacked by a man claiming to have information about his half-brother who died decades ago, "

Hey, I wrote a story about this years ago quote from my story "Donald’s half brother married Doreen Garvie, and they had a son Iain, he was born 1948"

So maybe they do read fanfic the script writers.

at least the scriptwriters have finally got us the answer to season 1 episode 2 where Ducky says he " The last time I was up this high I was hanging a pinata. At my nephew's birthday party."

OMG, this is already so great so far. Tony's line about the howler monkey in heat, and then PALMER being his excellent self. And then  Ducky!

More happened in the first five minutes of this episode than has happened in many whole episodes!

Right? It's kinda great, lol.

OMG, I love these scenes with young Ducky & his brother! So cute.

But the bit about Jake calling Gibbs was SUPER awkward. Did not need that, lol.

Well, that's it for Jake & Ellie, then? Wow. Good for her, though. It's the right decision.

I'm all a-twitter wondering what's up with Ducky's brother.

I love the actor they've chosen for young Ducky.

I love the fact that he may still have a brother!!!

I really love that they're getting rid of the bad marriage. I just wish she'd decked the bastard!

Well, they had to kick us in the teeth, somehow. Why Alzheimer's? Ducky's totally alone, doesn't he deserve ONE good thing?

This is a gift with a twist... good with bad.

I was hella confused by this episode. Probably because I was only half-watching. Or maybe I'm just stupid.

The ending was super sweet though. Although I, too, thought... why give him Alzheimers. That was a bummer. But still sweet.

I thought it was extra awkward when Tim was creeping in on Ellie and Jake's break-up convo. Although I'm sure he gave Tony the entire dish afterward... who then gave Abby the same thing. Ellie should know better than to have personal conversations in the bullpen. Especially since she discovered the super-special acoustics of the bullpen... well. No one is safe anymore.

Then maybe I should have paid more attention -- I thought it was the evidence garage with Tim in the van doing something or other (and I really didn't mean this to sound like "Clue - the NCIS episode" but...") (I need to stop multitasking while I'm watching the show, because, clearly, it's not working out so well).

I guess Ducky's delight at finding his brother alive, despite his condition, shows the depth of his affection and what a lovely soul he is -- it's also possible that it is supposed emphasize Nicholas' feelings for Ducky, given that the memory Ducky presented was one that Nicholas could access (although "early onset" and his not recalling ANYTHING about his past seemed off, but this is NCIS, after all...) This could certainly set up many Ducky stories, bad and good, about his meeting nieces and nephews, sister(s)-in-law, all manner of family. I think, though, I would rather the writers leave that to fanfic -- I'm a bit leery of what they would think is a good idea. :-/

And I know Bishop told Jake to take a hike, but I have a feeling we're not done with all that yet. And, honestly, I'm not sure which way I'd like to see it go -- I guess I just don't care either way. Whatever ends up with her just being more normal (they've gotten better about leaving behind all the desk-sitting and the food-pairing, which wasn't nearly cute enough not to be annoying -- and if it bugged me, it SHOULD have irritated Gibbs a lot sooner than it did!)

I have to admit I adored the scene with Ducky's gifts, and how they chose to give him the news. SO sweet! And I was caught up enough in the "wrong Mallard" thing I didn't stop to think that -- wait a minute! -- Ducky works with a crack team of investigators. Yes, I was THAT unaware as I was watching. :P

As Christmas episodes go, I appreciated that they played the holiday angle a bit more quietly -- it was sweet that way, and sometimes a Christmas-bludgeon-over-the-head is a bit more than we need. :elf:

OK, you're probably right. I wasn't watching very closely either.

Yeah, it was the evidence garage  Though, considering they went to the trouble of bringing up the aucostic sweet spot I'm kind of surprised they didn't use it again in the episode.

I would have preferred it if his brother wasn't mentally challenged, but had not known he was still alive until it slipped out as his mother was dying... and that ducky had actually had to rescue him from bad people... instead of find him in a nursing home... Then he could have met his brother's wife/partner and children and reunited with his brother as well as bringing his brother home to his family for Christmas! That would have been a much better story... and Ducky would have FAMILY instead of another fading person in his life to watch die.

I loved the episode up until they said 'Alzheimer's'... and it's been rare that I love an episode lately!

I loved this episode, probably my favorite one so far this season. At first i was a bit weary beause kidnapped Ducky, not really that interesting.

But then it was revealed that he used to have a much younger brother which he presumed dead and with the flashbacks and younger ducky was pretty good looking.

Then, when they found the wrong it was just so sad. That the team had gone trough all the effort to find him and then gift him the adres of his brother.

(Just to nitpick) I highly doubt that the plane/train ticket was still avaible for the team to find. Especially since it wasn't digitized.

All in all a great episode that i will certainly watch again.

I'm sorry Tamara, but me and him in doors said that although it was Ducky centric it was the most disappointing episode in a loooong while.

I thought it might have addressed the "nephew" that was mentioned in "Hung out to Dry".

Another thing that got me was it was mentioned that his Stepmother and brother went to Albania????????? I was always under the impression that as a communist state, real hard to just walk into. But looks like I'm and my thoughts are wrong again.
