You're right!

Quote:
Meanwhile, Perrette and the rest of the "NCIS" team will be on a short break, and fans will catch them again on Feb. 9 for episode 14, "Decompressed."

A deep see diver was killed while he's working and his dead body and his co-workers must go through a "high-tech decompression chamber for four days," as stated in CarterMatt. This means that all those people who were with the victim should stay in the tank for that specific number of days, even if they aren't guilty of anything, while investigation is ongoing.

The whole investigative team will do their job from outside a tank. Maya Stojan will appear as a guest star.

Abby's poem was the best:

Roses are red, they come in a bucket
Jake is a jerk, he can go suck it

:lol2:

And yes, I can't wait to hear McGee's poem. Also, new McNickname! McCherub. ;D

Wondering if there was something in the dead guy's food that made him act that way?

My newest theory is the one dude (not Jaelin or however it's spelled, lol) & the girl together because they're in some sort of relationship & have a secret drug ring going on.

Oh, that was a really sweet ending. Now I'm digging the DiNozzo/Ellie friendship vibe.

Just watched. Loved Abby's poem. Loved all the team stuff. Case was predictable, as always. Decent episode.

Finally watched this tonight. Loved the scene with Tony and Ellie exchanging Valentine's gifts. That was so sweet! Best part of the episode.

Okay, I get that Gibbs took Tim out first because he's probably going to be SFA after Tony goes so they have to get used to each other in that capacity but they never explained why Tim doesn't get sea sick anymore, which is thoroughly annoying. Let's rewrite canon! How many things can we screw up today?

On another note, watched New Orleans right after that. I think I'm starting to like New Orleans better than the mothership. The writing is certainly better and I was riveted the entire episode.

Agree about NOLA. I love the cast vibe and the case files hold together better.

Well, setting for NCIS NOLA is part of the story so I can't discount that but honestly, the stories feel 'tighter,' more balanced, they all seem to have a clear cut beginning, middle and end where it feels like most of the mothership's stories get lazy at the end from poor writing, or trying to put too much in at once and end up losing the whole thing. It's still very character-based but the case stories seem to be better too, and I think the actors are trying harder to make the stories be seamless where I haven't felt like the actors have tried as hard on the mothership.

This episode on the mothership was better story-telling-wise but the ending still felt kind of rushed and off-the-mark a bit to me anyway and the middle was kind of muddled, but not as bad as usual. Overall, it was a pretty good episode. I even liked Abby in it. She was more adorable than annoying, which is always nice.

So do I. Of course, a show set in New Orleans just couldn't be filmed anywhere else. It also makes me wonder if the show will have a shorter run because it probably costs a fortune to make.

Who knows if it costs a fortune to make? Life in Louisiana is probably cheaper than L.A. Since it is a major city, however, and people have been filming there, i suspect it has the infrastructure. It may be like One Tree Hill was with Wilmington. It went there and filmed there, and now Wilmington NC has a film industry (at least it did while OTH was there - other things used their studios). Just as in the 90s the X files and Stargate both filmed in Canada (mostly, I believe in Vancouver and BC in general, I suspect that there are some (especially cheaper) towns that are worth it to the L.A. folk. Not all actors want to live in L.A. I believe all the major actors attacked to the NO show are actual southerners. Might be nice to be 'home' or nearby. Personally, I'd rather live in N.O. than L.A. (barring a massive flood, of course!!) dirty little secret? Not everything flooded. So, right amount of money? You could find a decent place for relatively small money compared to California...

Anyway, I do hope they will film there forever and I too am beginning to enjoy it more than the original. The writing is way better in both spinoffs than the original. not sure why.

My favorite part of this episode was when Tony stopped reading Tim's poem out loud.

Case was a little "different," but still a bit boring.

Loved the entire scene with Gibbs on video chat.

Other than that, pretty unremarkable.

New Orleans has long been a popular place for filming movies & TV - it's not all that unusual to stumble onto someone filming down there. (My assistant was there on a Friday afternoon a while back near the & came across a crime scene for NCIS:Nola, & chatted with a couple of the tech people as they were standing by for filming to start. 8-) ) I've read that there are plenty of local production people and a police division/system to deal with filming needs. Should be plenty of regional actors, too as needed. Next door, Mississippi has a growing availability of similar professionals and has worked on developing that industry, given the filming of bigger-name movies like Oh Brother Where Art Thou? and The Help in recent years...

Cost of living is lower but not sure that rental/purchase costs would have much effect, other than maybe providing their stars with a local residence while they're filming (more than a trailer, I guess!). They may rent some local place condos for guest stars (cheaper than hotels) but otherwise, CoL wouldn't have a huge impact, would it? Of course LA is cheaper than LA overall ;D (Louisiana than Los Angeles) but like a lot of places, in city (New Orleans) is much pricier than rural/small town, especially when you are no longer in "bedroom community" commute distance.

They do seem to be making good use of local buildings rather than having to build sets, etc. No guess if they're having to spend time & money on dressing sets, but that sounds cheaper than building whole places, so that may help balance out the budget.
