Forum rules

Welcome to the NFA: NCIS Fanfiction Addiction Community!!

We don’t have many rules, but expect the ones we have to be followed without exception!

Absolutely no flaming or disruptive behavior. Such behavior which disturbs the friendly atmosphere of the NFA Community will not be tolerated, and will result in the banning of the offender (after a warning, if the offensive behavior doesn't cease).

Discussion, positive feedback and constructive criticism are highly encouraged. No bashing of an author’s writing technique will be tolerated.

Please keep private messages private. Do not repost any private messages without the sender’s knowledge and prior consent.

You are required to have at least 50 posts to request official author status. You may enter challenges prior to that time, but you may not have an author board.

Please make every effort to ensure that your stories are somewhat error-free and reasonably formatted for ease of reading. If you would like someone to BETA your story (preview it for spelling and grammar errors), see the BETA requests thread.

Please rate and label all stories appropriately (see ratings). Stories not rated high enough or without appropriate warnings will be flagged and the author contacted for the necessary changes. If changes are not made, the story will be assigned a rating by the staff.

Please make every effort to tag your stories to the correct categories. Stories can be submitted to multiple categories, so take advantage of this feature. Stories may also be tagged to open challenges.

Spoiler warnings are strongly recommended.

Adding a disclaimer to your story, or at least your profile, is strongly encouraged. Sample: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. The original characters and plot are the property of the author. The author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of any media franchise. No copyright infringement is intended.

Titles and summaries must be appropriate for all readers.

Please keep profanity to a minimum in forum discussion and reviews. Profanity is acceptable in stories, as long as the rating is appropriate.

Actor/actress stories are not permitted...not even if they're visiting an alternate reality. If you use an NFA member in a story, be sure to obtain their permission first!

A number of authors have requested that fans refrain from writing fanfiction based on their work. Therefore submissions will not be accepted based on the works of P.N. Elrod, Raymond Feist, Terry Goodkind, Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne McCaffrey, Robin McKinley, Irene Radford, Anne Rice, and Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way, shape, form or fashion.

No fanart, pictures or other images containing nudity may be posted, even in an appropriately rated thread.

Please limit your signatures to a maximum of 350x746 pixels. If you want to use text, icons, etc in your signature as well as a banner, be sure and make your banner small enough so that your total signature is not larger than the above limits. See example here.

If you have any questions or wish to report any behavior that does not support these rules, please contact a staff member.

It has come to our attention that some of our members have been making reports to the NFA webmaster account when they have had a problem. We would first and foremost like to apologize for any reports that did not receive a response. The webmaster account was created as an admin tool, and is not utilized by any one person on a regular basis. It is rarely used and it never occurred to us that members may be using that account as a means of reporting problems. We certainly do not want anyone to think we do not care or are ignoring you. If you reported a problem in the past and received no response, please feel free to contact us again. In the future, though, we do suggest that, when reporting a problem through PM, you contact one (or all) of us through our individual accounts rather than the webmaster account, to ensure a quicker response. Our goal is to make sure everyone here feels comfortable.

We have also been hearing about members harassing other members and making personal attacks through PMs. This will not be tolerated. The NFA should be a place where everyone feels welcome. Disagreements will happen, but we expect everyone to conduct themselves in a civil manner. If you don't like what someone is writing, don't read it. If you are being harassed by another member or have any sort of problem, we implore you to contact us and we will do everything in our power to help solve the problem.

If anyone needs a reminder of what our rules are (and we do not have many) they can be found here. Please help us maintain a welcoming atmosphere here at NFA; every member is important and welcome

The full staff is listed in the Introduction threads, but not all staff handle day to day issues. If you have an issue, the primary people to contact are as follows:

Enthusiastic Fish

Your best bet is to address all five of us in one PM, or to have a conversation with one of us that you know pretty well. All member issues are discussed in MTAC, so if you make your request through one of us, all of us still have the opportunity to weigh in on the issue.

If you take specific issue with something someone has said to/about you on the forums or in PM, please copy us the message sent so we have the full picture. While we have rules against posting what is sent in PM in public, you can copy it to report to staff if you feel threatened or if you feel it violates the NFA rules. It will stay confidential, as only staff members have access to MTAC. It will never be posted publicly.

Have fun and play nice! ;D
