I know the WWC has just come back from a extended break because of the WEE, but I'm wondering if people want the WWC put on hiatus for the time being. I mean I'm perfectly fine with churning out challenges every week, but if people are too busy and don't have the time at the moment, I'm fine with putting the WWC on hiatus for a few weeks or so, or even until NCIS starts up again in September.

Or, somehow, the format of the WWC could change, if anyone had any ideas. I'm open to suggestions. :)

I'd like to see it continue...though for me, personally, my time is kinda tight at the moment. Maybe make it a bi-monthly thing?

My problem is not necessarily lack of time, but lack of inspiration. :-/ I want to write, but I just can't seem to get my head to want to write. :P And I'm writing plenty of original stuff; it's just fic that isn't cooperating. Which is frustrating.

So I guess for me it doesn't really matter all that much. If other people are still wanting to do the challenges, I think you should continue making them. We can always come back later and write something if we really like one idea.

I swear I posted a respone to this...why is it not here?

I think every other week would be nice. However, I'm kind of like Sherry; the inspiration just isn't there. So I'm giving myself my own break. :)

I haven't responded to any of the challenges yet (I actually am working on one of the earlier ones, though) but I know I really appreciate getting prompts--even if I don't write something "Postable", they often get me past writers block. So, I can understand perhaps moving to more of a bi-weekly thing but I definitely vote to keep it going!

I'm with the others. I think our idea for the weekly challenge was too ambitious, not only because of time contraints, but because there are so many prompts and challenges and what not being thrown at us that it kind of depletes our supply of inspiration (at least it does for me). Perhaps bi-monthly or even monthly would be a better choice. That way because canm better fit the challenges in between other works they have going on.

I can live with bi-monthly or monthly. But wouldn't that tread on the toes of the skills challenges?

I think bi-monthly is a better choice. I currently really want to write some of these, I'm working on WWC # 5, But between other challenges, things you personally want to write, and real life, it's not working out.

I have a question. I know this would upset the WWC rules, but if you did do it bi-monthly, how about people would be allowed to work on past challenges even more? So then they could still enter them with those that were written in the given time period. Maybe just put that these are not in that period, as a note on the out side?

While the idea was to complete the weekly challenge within the week, everyone knows time can get away from them and thus there was never a real time limit of the challenges; they're open indefinitely. So yes, people could easily work on the older challenges while doing the newer ones. :)

Is the skills challenge even still running? At my last glance, there hadn't been anything put up in there since the site was formed in September.

I voted for I'm not sure.

I think that we could combine the skills and the WWC into something. Just throwing it out there since the plot bunnies are officially taking over my sleep deprived brain this fine morning. I love the WWC don't get me wrong. I posted four fics for the catch up week and I had fun with them. Especially the Ohio Blue Cheese one. I think though that maybe some of the things in skills could also be used as a weekly writing challenge. Like dialogue only...that could be a week...tone could be another week...drama could be a week and so on...

Making this bi-weekly is a great idea as well. It would give those that are looking for inspiration a chance to peer into this fourm and see what they could come up with. I know that I am looking for challenges all the time to my writing. I stop in here frequently to see what's new and the challenge that awaits me. But maybe someone isn't feeling that week's challenge but looks at the next challenge and is inspired to write something. Its all on inspiration, time and if both come together.

Okay... :bunny: Im going to let the plot bunnies pull me back into my 200 themes and try to write some more of those before bed. ^^ I hope I made sense in a way.

Okay, I'm going to leave it until the end of the month and then post a new challenge that will run for two weeks (or bi-monthly). We'll see how that works and go from there. :)

Okay? Yes? No?

I like the WWC. And Try keeping up with it as much as possible.

I could go for once a month...so I can remember to write within a month period.

;D

But I vote for keeping it.

As a new(ish) member, I'm entering this discussion very tentatively, since I wasn't around when the Weekly Writing Challenge started. Just from my personal standpoint, I know I don't have time to write as much as I would like to, or respond to all the challenges that interest me, so "Weekly" is just too fast a turnaround time for someone like me. That's why I voted for "a change" and by that I mean bi-weekly or monthly--either one would be fine with me and would allow some time to come up with a response.

There have been many tempting ideas posted in the Weekly challenges that I have not had time to respond to. I'd like to applaud the idea of an occasional "catch up" challenge where we can respond to any past challenge (like the one that's up currently). I'm working on my first Weekly Writing Challenge response because the current challenge gave me a chance to go back to a prompt that was posted before I joined NFA, and take a shot at it. That's very nice. It also means that anyone who had a plot bunny for a previous challenge, but ran out of time to write it, could go back and develop that idea so it wouldn't be lost forever. I hope that "catch up" challenges will continue to be offered a few times a year for writers like me, whose ideas develop slowly.

Thanks for the input, Nat.

The challenges are fortnightly, btw. I just didn't change the name because everyone knows it as the Weekly Writing Challenge. And yes, I always do catch-up weeks because I know people don't always have the time to write. And the challenges are open infinitely. There is no reason you can't go back and do some of the older challenges whenever you feel like. :) But yes, hope to see something from you soon. ;D
