You're not completely alone in this Colleen! :hug2col:

And I am getting very warmed up to the whole "McGee being a possible mole" story line. Just think of all Tim/Tony time that will bring with it. :heartsthree: We haven't exactly been spoiled with them this season.

Another mole? Been there done that.

I'm glad that this wasn't all to exciting. After Castle yesterday, I don't think I could have handelt that.

New secnav, new season. Bring it on!

The mole? Dunno, don't really think it's someone of the team.

Thoughts...

I thought the season finale was okay. Certainly not what I was suspecting and it burst a few bubbles, but I'll survive. :D

On the mole... really? Again? :banghead:

I think the mole is probably EJ. That or one of the team. The look on Tony's face at the end of that suggested that the 'mole' was someone close to him, and those are the people that he's close to. I think it's probably EJ for obvious reasons (uncle SecNav who screwed the pooch, stealing something from what's-his-name's wrist, etc.) and that's why Tony's so upset. He was planning on 'seeing her around' in DC after all.

If it's one of the team, I'm thinking someone is framing Gibbs, McGee or Ziva in that order. Gibbs, because having Tony spy on his direct supervisor would be a very NCIS thing to do. It would probably be about the whole Cartel stuff. McGee, because of the hacking that everyone's been mentioning. Ziva, because clearly the Israeli stuff is still not over and then there was that foreshadowing an episode or two ago about her arresting her father. Maybe they think she's giving info to her dad and she's a spy?

Thinking about it, and how obvious the writers are, it's probably going to be Ziva. *sigh* Guess I'll just have to wait for next season. :offtobed: Wake me up in four months....

I liked it ... it was suspenseful, (mostly) interesting and had a few little twists I didn't see coming ... but first ...

Jimmy's getting married!!!!! :smitten: :dancingcouple: (<< That was as close to a wedding smiley I could find. :P) Totally the best part of the episode. Was not expecting Jimmy having such a major role so it was definitely :smitten: . Love the little look-exchange between him and Gibbs, and now I want loads of fic dealing with the aftermath. That or wedding!fic. :smitten: And (although I won't get it) I want a proper wedding scene next season - just a small one with Ducky (or even Tony) as Best Man and all the team attending. :smitten: And a mini!Gremlin. :smitten: Do not want a dying bride, please. >:-(

Other thoughts:

-Mole. Meh. Rather not go there again, but whatever. I'm not going to complain. Hopefully it's different to the Michelle Lee storyline, otherwise I might complain. :P I'm intrigued to know who they suspect it is ... EJ seems like the most likely candidate, but that's a bit meh; I'm hoping for more creativity on the writers' part. Though I lie, I do have one teeny-tiny complaint ... Did it really have to be Tony again? I know he's the most logical choice, but couldn't they have done something different. I would have loved to have seen McGee in Tony's position ... sure he's not as experienced as Tony or as "action-y", but I could see his computer hacking skills being a great advantage in this whole thing. But whatever ... when push comes to shove, who would the audience (besides here, of course) rather see in the super!seekret spy storyline? Cynical, but true (in my opinion).

-Ziva/CIRay (Riva? Rava? CIZiva? CIva?) ... Also, meh. I'm neither for or against the relationship, but I can handle it. The empty box promise thing was kinda cute, though. The text message was *almost* predictable, and I hope CIRay isn't playing Ziva; I'd like to think she was smarter than that. Totally a set up for a Daddy David storyline next season, though.

-That said, there was a lot of resolution, but also set up in the finale. Tony's mole thing, CIRay in Tel Aviv, EJ/Tony, even Jimmy's engagement ... all potential storylines/arcs for next season. Not a bad thing, but I dunno ... it just felt like too much set-up. *shrugs*

-Mostly glad EJ's not dead. Still not her biggest fan, but I could handle her maybe in an occasional guest appearance. I felt sorry for her and Cade when Levin died. I think she had better writing this episode and wasn't just portrayed as NCIS' golden girl ... I like her little emotional moments. Wasn't expecting the revel about the SecNav, but it makes a lot of sense.

-I do have to say Cobb-wanting-revenge-on-the-people-who-did-this-to-him was a bit too Kai (I think that was her name) like. Kinda disappointed that P2P wasn't someone we knew, but it worked. I guess after eight seasons storylines do run a bit thin ... I did enjoy all the "spook" kind of stuff, though.

-Was about 99% certain Ziva wasn't going to get killed off, but it was nice to have a bit of Ziva!Whump&Worry.

-Franks already dying wasn't a surprise, but man, the funeral just about killed me. I was neither a great fan or hater of Franks, but realising Gibbs had made the coffin made me bawl. And when he gave Amira the flag. :'(

-Rule 16 = :smitten: I really liked that one.

All in all, it was a solid (though not the best) season finale and I look forward to season 9.

Not much to say from me - episode is too meh to really talk about. Did like the Jimmy though. :nice: Also, wow there was some bad dialogue. Way to tell not show, writer guys. :-/

It was okay, but it could have been worse. :) Vance was very well redeemed.

PS - Ha! I so called Gibbs making Franks coffin. ;D

Not feeling the love, although it's always nice when Jimmy gets more of a role than just an awkward line. I do hope that there's a wedding show; the bachelor party plot as imagined by Dewgoddess over on Season 8 News thread sounds like a hoot.

I wish that they had developed Team Mary Sue to the point where I would have actually cared about their fate, but they just felt like cardboard cutouts to me, as did the killer. I hated the Tim/Abby moment and the fact that super-ninja Ziva was so careless as to be caught, but I really liked that Gibbs made Frank's coffin. It was such an act of love that it brought a tear to my eye. I also love that Vance has emerged from his funk. Go Vance!

I can't believe they're using the mole plot. Again. I think that Gibbs is the suspect, because I don't think that Tony is really qualified to investigate the kind of spy work that Tim or Abby are capable of, and I think he would be physically outraged if it were Ziva. Whatever their relationship, he is very protective of her. I don't think that he believes Gibbs is capable of being a traitor, but he does know that Gibbs tends to make enemies. I'm really hoping it's not EJ, because we've already had the "Tony Deceiving a Woman at the Orders of the Director" plot, and I didn't like it the first time around.

Not really amazed by the finale. ...but I'll admit that real life woes might be coloring my view. Still, hated the Tim/Abby scene. Not even Tim would be worrying about whether or not Abby was going out with Gary Stu in that situation.

What bothered me was that there was so much going on...and yet it felt like nothing really happened. Now, I was spoiled about what would happen, but I still wasn't really amazed.

...and the mole thing...I highly doubt it will involve Tim, and that's about the only way I could be really interested in a retread of season 4 and season 6 combined. Just don't care. Sorry.

And finally, on a completely shallow note, I do not like Tony's hair. The sideburns...how dark it is. Yuck. No.

I was thinking they must've filmed it soon after Baltimore and they never got him back to his original hair. It did look too dark and really the sideburns?! Ah well.

I did NOT like the way McGee was written in this episode. To me, they made him look insensitive and dumb. And while he's been known to stick his foot in his mouth on occasion, he wouldn't be worried about Abby's relationship with Cade in the midst of a freaking serial killer investigation, and then the whole, "Vance?" when they rescued Ziva seemed like they needed someone to say the wrong thing so Gibbs or Tony (whoever said it, I don't remember) could say the right thing. It just gets old.

And I will say again, I really really really REALLY do not want Ziva to be the mole. People hate her enough as it is, and if they're looking for a way to "bring back" Tiva, that's not a good way to go about it. I have no idea who it could be, but I hope it's not someone obvious.

Ditto. :brood: The writer's intention might be good (and it showed at times  ), but of all the characters he seemed slightly out of place at times :P

Agreed. The Tim/Abby scene was just bad. It seemed like he was just in this episode as the extra that interjects when necessary.

There was nothing that was noticeable about Tim in this episode other than that scene. Just disappointing.

Man, even JIMMY can get kidnapped in a finale, but not McGee. I think he's actually been whumped more times than Tim, and he's not even a series regular! >:-( A

I've said before that I think NCIS does premieres better than they do finales. So, as NCIS finales go, it was pretty good. All the kidnappings and injuries made me feel like I was watching a fanfic play out, only with more political intrigue.

I'm glad EJ didn't die, mainly because that would have been unnecessary Tony angst. Still not sure why Cobb had EJ, let her go, then kidnapped her again. I thought they said he surrendered so that he could go back to NCIS and get the one thing he couldn't get outside of there. But if that thing was EJ, then he already had her once. If that thing was whatever she took out of the agent's arm, then they never showed Cobb getting it. I hope that is explained next season, by the way.

Was Ray's text ABOUT Kort or FROM Kort? I was confused. I guess he is supposed to keep tabs on Kort now? And by the way Ray, LAME. "I'm giving you a promise." Um, no- you're giving her an empty box. A ring is a promise. An empty box is, well, a box full of air. :-/

Mr. Keys pointed out that SECNAV (the old one, not the new one) played the one-handed shop teacher on The Adventures of Pete and Pete. I can never take him seriously again, so it's probably a good thing he left. I don't get new SECNAV; a lobbyist got promoted to Secretary of the Navy? Would that ever happen? Don't you have to be an agent, or in the Navy, or a politician, or something?

They made McGee look like a real jealous a$$ in the scene with Abby. The hug was sweet, but I agree with Teri. There is no way he would be worried about who Abby was dating when they are investigating a serial killer and a fellow agent is hospitalized and fighting for his life. Ugh.

Quote:
Okay, tell me if you've heard this before - they're using Tony for a secret op without allowing his team to back him up.

I'm pretty sure I have. I think I've heard about a mole at NCIS on more than one occasion as well. Still, I'm intrigued, if only because I HOPE McGee is the mole so he can have a storyline. Well, I hope he is accused of being the mole. Not that he actually IS the mole. But that would be epic if he got to have some "I am not a traitor to my country!" angst. I do prefer this kind of cliffhanger to the "will they or won't they die?" type that many other shows use. I'm glad NCIS doesn't leave us hanging too badly over the summer.

I'll agree with that, Keys. This was a better finale than last year...and NCIS doesn't do very well with finales.

I would love to have Tim suspected of being the mole. So made of win. :smitten:

As for the SECNAV, yes, it's quite possible that he could have been a lobbyist. The SECNAV's role is to be a supreme manager, not someone who necessarily knows his way around a ship. In many government agencies, the person at the top comes in without a whole lot of knowledge about the agency itself. They don't need it. They have people below them who know the details.

The SECNAV doesn't have to have a Naval connection at all. That job belongs to the Chief of Naval Operations, who holds the rank of Admiral. The SECNAV used to be a Cabinet position, until it (and the other military branches) was split off and put under the Department of Defense under the Secretary of Defense. So, it's more of a political/organizational post than an active, hands-on military post.

I did like the Jimmy whump but doesn't Tim deserve some attention as well? Honestly, for all the lines he had they may as well have put a plastic doll in his desk.

It's not so much a promise as a "look what I could of given you but didn't."

Ah yes, a storyline for Tim. Preferably rife with angst :evillaugh:

Although yes yes yes Tim deserves more attention and storylines, they actually succeeded in getting a freakout from me via Jimmy's abduction because I couldn't just start chanting, "They renewed their contract. They renewed their contract. They renewed their contract..."

Brian Dietzen's recurring character status and lack of contract is a separate rant altogether. Sign him on already! :brood:

I did like that Gary Glasberg said Jimmy was an important part of the show. ...maybe we'll get to see Jimmy as a regular next season. :)

I actually liked Ray and Ziva being back together (yes, I know you don't, Sherry). I like EM and I like Ray. So I can hope that they'll have a nice normal relationship.

I enjoyed it. I've been considering it as one big story with "Swan Song", and I find it hangs together better that way. I'm glad that they didn't go with a "someone dies!!" cliffhanger - I'd much rather have setup for next season. The retread aspect of the mole storyline doesn't bother me - in essence, they repeat the same "murder" storyline every week, so I'm confident it can be different. It already is - Vance at least told someone this time. I do hope it's not Tim, Ziva or Gibbs - it would bother me to think they could ever be considered a traitor. My money's on EJ, but they said "agent", and didn't she resign? Perhaps Tony will have the sense to confide in Gibbs this time.

The important question for next season, though, is what will Gibbs' new basement project be? :) I loved that he'd been making Mike's coffin all along - very touching, very Gibbs.

And Jimmy's getting married! That's adorable, and I bet he rushed right out and asked her the same day Gibbs told him to.

Some Thoughts on the "Mole" Thing:
My first reaction was "Seriously? Did the writers forget we already had that? Twice?" But then I got to thinking... it's just too obvious, there's no way they think they can get away with just reusing a plot that's already been featured in such a major way without people noticing and complaining. So it's got to be intentional, and it makes sense when you think about it. SecNav didn't tell just anyone to work on a top secret op without telling their team, he told Tony. Tony, who's done exactly that once already, and got burned in the process. Tony, who said there wouldn't be a "next time." There's just way too much history for the writers to just ignore, which makes me think they're bringing it up deliberately.
Towards the end of the season, we saw Tony mature a lot, or at least show more of that side of himself, this may be a continuation of that. Now that he's thrust into a position he never wanted to be in again, he'll probably have to deal with a lot of old baggage in connection with new issues, which could be very interesting.

Also, I'm kind of thinking Decker's insurance policy might figure in this. After all, Tony's now working on (or at least is getting information on) black ops, and wasn't it a black op that got Decker killed? He may have collected information on additional ones. I mean, why bring that up again if it's not going to be used? Plus, they brought up that specific op in Enemies Foreign & Domestic when they revealed that The Russian was Anatoly Zukov. They could have just had a random bad guy, but they gave him a tie to the Paris op, I like to think they did that for a reason. And is it me, or has everyone been mentioning Jenny a lot, lately? I feel like throughout Seasons 6 and 7 she was pretty much forgotten, but this season, particularly since Enemies, people have been making references to her a lot. Plus, we got that glimpse of her in Enemies Domestic when there was really no need for it, 'cause they could have just shown Gibbs killing Zukov. It definitely has me thinking that the whole Decker/Paris op/insurance policy thing will be a part of Season 9.

...Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it 'cause I'd love to see Jenny again. :P Anybody want to back me up or disillusion me?

I hadn't thought of all that Callie, but I agree that there's more behind the 'mole' than just finding a spy.

Actually, the more I think about it, the less I think it's EJ's name in that file. It just seems too obvious (and, as mentioned, she's taking a sabbatical at the moment, so how would Tony possibly investigate her?) Maybe it's Nikki Jardine ;D

Now with Mike gone yes the Decker file could be found in the belongings, maybe Mike left it for Gibbs...........now that would be good, lots of flash backs to Paris...............oh yes what about the file Kort gave to Gibbs on Vance..............we still don't know what was in that......

post script, why don't we all write stories and see which the scriptwriters go with. ;D

I'm already contemplating one, but it's not the Tony angle, but Kort's.

It's gotta be that guy who doesn't wash his hands after he uses the bathroom. I mean, unsanitary=traitor, right?

I don't think it's EJ. She's on a leave of absence. Plus, I don't think they would have Tony shadow someone he's sleeping with. I mean, massive conflict of interest there.

Quote:
The SECNAV doesn't have to have a Naval connection at all. That job belongs to the Chief of Naval Operations, who holds the rank of Admiral. The SECNAV used to be a Cabinet position, until it (and the other military branches) was split off and put under the Department of Defense under the Secretary of Defense. So, it's more of a political/organizational post than an active, hands-on military post.

I know he or she doesn't have to be military, but I thought they would at least be a politician. I thought lobbyists were just those people who stand outside Congress and yell at the politicians as they come out. :) Maybe he has more experience than just that, though.

I've been thinking about the McAbby scene some more today. I think I can explain it, or at least fanwank it to where it doesn't make me so upset. Maybe when Tim said "You were with him all night" he was implying that he was worried for Abby's safety. Cade still could have been a target at that point, and he might have been afraid that Abby would get caught in the crossfire if she was with him. Maybe it wasn't a jealousy thing. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

When I saw the scene with Abby and Tim I didn't think jealousy at all. I thought he was just asking and Abby took it as if he was trying to keep tabs on her. When he realized how she took it, he just downplayed it to not upset her. I was a bit surprised that so many saw it differently. Then again it could just be me, lol.

Can I stick to your story, too? ;D

I thought of something else that bugged me about that episode - Ziva wasn't at Mike's funeral (at least as far as I could see). Guess she wasn't that upset about him dying. :P

I KNOW! I was sitting there going, "Where's Ziva?" and freaking out that she had been stuffed in the coffin with Mike or something totally tasteless like that. :P

And yeah, the whole Tim & Abby scene did kinda seem like that, thinking back on it, and I should be more irritated with Abby for assuming Tim meant he was jealous. Like, get over yourself. :P But yeah, he probably did just go along with it to not freak her out, because Abby would freak out. :P Not knocking Abby, just stating how she usually is.

We make our own news huh? Though I know what you mean. At least this year I'm not as anxious as last year (I hated waiting to find out what happened with Jack, lol).

Now I'm more or less trying to figure out what angles they are taking with the story lines. It's making me want to write my own, but so far I haven't come up with a solid plot!

Late to the party.
Here's my Swan Song live viewing notes. I was too caught up in the action to do any for Pyramid, but I'll be posting my ideas in either the S8 or S9 "Speculation & Theories" thread.

Now
@_@ OMG, Who IS it, show me already! “The Heart of NCIS” We know it’s not Gibbs. Vance? . . .

Not Jimmy, or Ducky. WHEW!
There’s Tony! *hugs*
And Vance. Uh, oh, nooooooo, not one of the team… OMG, not TIM, PLEASE not TIm. Or Ziva. Maybe it’s Eli -- Ziva’s heart?

Abby? Abby is the heart of NCIS. ohhhhhhh…. I HATE this!

Gibbs has blood on him.

*autopsy*
Gibbs: I don’t understand
*wibble* That’s what Lt. Cameron and Col. Ryan said in Enigma.

Yesterday
Is he’s imaging Franks? So it IS Franks who died.

EJ’s back. Yuck. NCIS Agent? Meeps!

Stark? Don’t know him.

Yep. Franks is definitely a hallucination/day dream. LOL - “you wouldn’t pass that up” So, I guess Tony’s off the hook for hooking up with EJ.

*PHOOMPH*

Ziva: I shall pretend to ask Ducky a question, while spying on Agent Barrett. *snerk*

Interesting to see how Gibbs’ mind works. He’s playing back everything that happened, with Frank’s as his hind-sight. Aw…. he’s worried about remembering names and details. Not that bad, remembering the monkey.

KORT! It‘s Kort, isn‘t it?
*crows* It WAS his eyeball! Ew. poor Kort. Ouchies. Even Tony seems a wee bit sympathetic. But that makes CIRay even more likely of a suspect.

So, Lt. Jonas Cobb. hmmmmm. At least it’s not CIRay. Ziva will be relieved.

First Tony’s heard of the file on Vance? He doesn’t seem all that surprised. There’s a Missing Scene I’d like to see:
*Gibbs’ Basement*
Tony *opens drawer*: Hey, what’s this?
Gibbs: Vance’s CIA file.
Tony: Buh… wha… how? *goes to open it*
Gibbs: How d‘ya think? *grabs it* Not for your eyes, DiNozzo.

Today
Oh, man, that cough of Franks’ does NOT sound good.

Keeee-heeee. VANCE! “I can’t think of a better reason for him to stay, other than it makes you uncomfortable.” I’ve never loved him more.

Operation Frankenstein? Well, that sounds ominious.
Has anybody thought of ripping that eyepatch off, just to be SURE he’s missing an eye?

Ah, I get it. The “F” in Frankenstein stands for FUBAR.

@_@ Gibbs sees dead people! *shiver*
Mike Franks on ghosts:
I believe me make ‘em. With the memories we make. We fill the spaces we live in with them. That’s why… I‘ve always tried to make sure that wherever I live, …the spaces become filled with memories… of naked women.
BWAHAHAHAAAA… Now, that’s a haunting Dean Winchester could get down with. ;D

*whimper* Franks…. no. Even though I’d rather it was him than Abby or Ziver.

Huh, I think Franks got Cobb in the leg. Go Franks! *kiss on cheek*

Awwwww. Ziva’s shaken up.

Trivia: Mike kept 8 in the mag, one in the chamber.

YESSSS! Mike DID get him!

Ziva is VERY upset! *snuffle*
Tony: Better us than someone who didn‘t sign up for it.
*whimpers & coos* Tender Tony is GUH! (and much nicer than snarky Tony) McAbby TLC FTW! Group hug!? *snuffle* I’m gonna cry. Big brother Tony taking care of the younger ones. *pets Tony* Good Boy!

Ducky doing the psych profile. Cool. Meeps! Cobb is coming after Gibbs.
Nope, it’s EJ.

Creepy dark warehouse & a killer lieing in wait? Somebody’s gonna die. EJ, that’s a stupid move. Don’t go off on your own. Toy! TOY! RUN… too late. Oh, CRAP! You are NOT leaving us hanging there? YOU ARE. *snarl, growl, gnashing of teeth*

Tony cracked me up in that episode, but he usually does, lol. Don't know the movie well enough to compare (I don't own it, lol- one of few I probably don't in my library of dvds).

In Pyramid, we saw Vance greet SECNAV Davenport at...what I guess must be a side or back entrance to NCIS.

Have we ever seen that entrance before?
