I was actually extremely giddy when Tony included that divorce rate liner! I was giddy because least semester we talked about the divorce rate && it was actually a really interesting class. We talked about how the divorce rate actually may not be as high as 50% because the way that number is ascertained is using a divorce rate formula that isn't as reliable as another formula that they coudl use. I think they use the crude divorce rate formula to configure divorce, and that is where they get the 50% number. However the researchers should use the refined divorce rate because it is more accurate!

Does knowing && remembering this when Tony said that line make me a nerd  :inquisitive:

They should definitely use that formula. It would be good for everyone to know the divorce rate is actually lower.

Teri, that is exactly what I thought when I heard Tony's line. I think people sometimes don't really understand the commitment of marriage. I think Tony is one of these people.

Steve Urkel! I knew that was him as soon as I saw him. He grew up to be quite handsome. He also did a great guest appearance on Psych in season 4.

Quote:
So far as I'm seeing here, this is a pretty good episode. I'm actually surprised at how vehement people are about how bad this episode is. People know that I've not actually been very pleased with much of the last couple of seasons. This isn't bad.

I agree. I thought the episode was quite good. It held my interest and surprised me with who the killer was (I thought it would turn out that the detective's partner would be the killer). I'll admit that this is the first episode I've actually seen Ray in, so maybe that's why I wasn't as against him as others were. I feel like I really don't even know who he is, and his departure is not a big loss to me.

But yeah, I kind of still have a headache from the TIVA anvils. Though I agree that they could easily be interpreted as friendship. Like someone else said, I like that everyone was happy for Ziva when they thought she was getting married. Especially Gibbs. He looked happy but a bit sad too, like a father would. I like this kinder, gentler Gibbs.

Shallow note: Ziva's fabulous coat collection strikes again! Cote looked gorgeous in that burgundy trench. What a great color for her.

I would also like to clarify a comment that I made last night. I don't have anything against Tiva as a pairing, honestly. What I do have a problem with was that extremely unsubtle ending where the detective was practically trying to throw them at each other. I was really relieved when Tony's and Ziva's actual lines were along the "No, we're just friends" line. I agree with... sorry, can't remember who said it now and don't have time to go back and look... the totally awesome NFAer whose name I can't recall who said that they preferred the approach that Criminal Minds takes - keep the romantically-related stuff off-camera, so the fan can interpret the relationships however they want. And I also wish that Tim had been allowed to chime in on the "should she or shouldn't she" question. I'm going to assume that it happened, but it just didn't make it onto the show. And wait for someone to write it as an episode tag. :)

I quite liked that episode. It had a plot that even linked into the Ziva subplot. If you avoided the Tiva, and I'm not so sensitive to it, it was fine.

Worst episode for me recently is the dastardly plan to take over the world with individually installed remote controlled caterpillars where every male in McGee's family is an admiral (Penelopy papers). Others include the radio wave emitting money fragment (which was the subject of much mirth in the scientific corridors the next day) and the computer coding on the AI car that was apparently so like a fingerprint it could uniquely determine the coder.

Possibly because I' a scientist and don't ship significantly, I have a different list of bad.

Oh but DT was still rubbish in anybody's language.

I've made peace with DT.

But I totally agree about Penelope Papers. Wins the worst plot episode hands down.

Oh yeah. Though Mother's Day infuriated me the most. Oh it did.

LOL, someone pointed out that that's been going on for years now. Like there's a screencap from a season 5 episode with the same thing.

I didn't like Burris cheerleading Tiva (I pike it when it's shown, not told), but I love the way Tony and Ziva acted when they denied being a couple. Tony and Ziva don't consider themselves to be "just friends", they consider themselves to be FRIENDS. It's nice to see them deviating from the notion that all relationships are meaningless unless the people involved are sleeping together.

Finally saw the episode. I hope that now that EJ ad Ray have been sent off, we can stop focusing on the soap opera that is Tony's and Ziva's love lives and get back to focusing on the characters as a team :P and while I have nothing against Tiva, I want to add my voice to the groans at last night's attempt to have a one-off character tell us how perfect Tony and Ziva are for one another.

As for worst episode, I wouldn't put this close. It was more boring than anything else, at least for me. I have to agree with Teri that "Mother's Day" still reigns supreme for worst episode. I have to pretend it doesn't exist.

:wavingyellow: we had this last night in the UK, my immediate reaction was "Oh no not another body in a house being shown round by estate agent (dead and buried).....but yes, and then there was the sniper from across the other building, (One shot, one kill), now if we are going to scrape the scripts do it better, in fact read here.

Loved Jimmy, and the "Until death us do part.........or 300Lbs," loved it.

Hated the end when Gibbs touched Ziva's head and said........can't remember but I so wanted to :gibbssmack: Gibbs and say NO GIVA.

As for what I said about Ray and Ziva, looks like it may be Tiva, oh well what ever turns you on.

Not the best but then I only watch for MH.

I know I'm posting late in this thread, but :yesyes: I loved this comment SOOOOOO MUCH.

I'm rewatching this episode, and my goodness but I wanna kick CIRay inna fork. "Now or never, Ziva David" okay, hello emotional manipulation and ultimatums, yes, that sooooooooo indicates tru wuv. Gah. Every time I see this episode it makes me like Ray less. It only makes it worse that he is blatantly lying to her and actually trying really hard to cover up a murder he committed. :gibbssmack: I want to punch him in the face... Poor Ziva really has unfortunate taste in men for someone who has such huge trust issues :hug2col:

TL;DR: GOOD RIDDANCE RAY *boot up bum*

Watching this episode again I'm disliking Ray MORE AND MORE. Seriously, no redeeming characteristics displayed in this episode. He's more or less stalking her/totally ignoring her obvious preference to be LEFT THE BLEEP ALONE, then we get the whole marriage ultimatum thing which, I'm sorry, is such a jerk way of going about it, now or never? really? How old are you, twelve? And THEN we find out he killed Maya Burris in a botched assassination attempt on someone else (which I never quite understood anyway because surely you can see the difference between a pretty, curly haired woman and the terrorist guy?), lied about it and tried to cover it up, and then acts to Ziva like it's no big deal. We have some seriously dubious life decisions coming from NCIS characters at times, but he just comes off as seriously cold the way he tries to brush this off as an unfortunate error.

I don't remember having particularly strong feelings either way about Ray prior to this episode, but every time I watch this one? I hate him a little more. Bleurgh. Revolting man *shudder* I think I may have to add him to my no go list for exchanges and the like alongside Mallison and Sam Ryan.

I hated Ray from the moment he was first mentioned; and not because I was into Tiva at the time but I just knew, knew, knew he was going to end up badder than bad. I remember being impatient throughout this entire season because the CIRay story line just brought the whole thing down. Ugh! I was never so glad when they got rid of him. I thought the idea of Ziva dating a CIA guy was bad for Ziva's mental health. She really should only date people who are not in law enforcement or government jobs in any way, shape or form.

I think was the only person to find Ray genuinely interesting in this episode. In previous episodes, his only purpose was to interfere with Tony/Ziva stuff which was boring and blah, but here, he actually gets a storyline and while his character isn't a wonderful person, I found him interesting enough to write a oneshot about and then to incorporate him into my fifth CIA story. :)

I think he was pretty beige and then he became a total jerk. Ugh.

I think you're right, PR, that dating a CIA agent was not good for someone like Ziva.

Honestly, the first time I watched season 8, I seriously thought for a while that he was going to turn out to be P2P  so clearly even though I didn't have strong feelings about him as a character, I didn't think he was the greatest guy ever...

Like I said, I think I was the only one who found him to be interesting. I interpreted the episode differently, but I won't bore you with the details. Not even Pam was convinced by my interpretation. She felt much like everyone else did.

I figure that if I couldn't convince Pam, there are very few I could unless they were already sympathetic. ;D
