Today is the day of the total solar eclipse. It passes right over my house and we'll get totality for 2 min. 12 sec. I'm so excited for this to happen! I've only seen a couple of partial solar eclipses and some total lunar eclipses. I've never seen a total solar eclipse before!

WOOHOO!

It's finished now. Absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything like it before. The light was weird and the feeling was strange. It was so cool. I don't even have words. :)

That's awesome. The clouds miraculously cleared a bit for us, and in these parts, 85% of the sun was covered. The temperature dropped some and the daylight was dim and strange.

We went out during it. Didn't have glasses so I was careful to not look at the sun. That said, the daylight was like nothing I've ever seen. It had an almost light orange quality to it. Was really neat. It dropped approximately 10 degrees here, a very noticeable difference, but as soon as it passed, the temperatures rose back up again. We were sweltering again by the time we got home.

I saw the eclipse on Cornwall in '99. Unfortunately it was clouded over for most of it (we did get a glimpse at totality) but the drop in light and temperature was significant, and the birds and animals all threw a total wobbly over it!

I'd love to see one again one day =D

Too bad you didn't have glasses, Shay. But at least you could see totality. It's amazing.

My dad kept saying that it would be cloudy on the day of the eclipse, but even he admitted that it was worth seeing once it was over. :)

We didn't have totality here, and for the majority of it i didn't have glasses, so i couldn't see with my eyes... I did point the cameras at the sky blind (not looking, but just aiming) and i was able to get a few neat shots when the clouds actually served as a filter that allowed the camera to capture the partial (at peak we were about 80%) -- and the sky barely darkened, though the cicadas could apparently tell as they started singing.

Then my lovely hubby came rushing home from work where they'd given out glasses (and missed most of it driving the long trip home) so he could share his glasses with me... Then the sky which now looked very bright and normal turned out to reveal a still half covered sun! Was very neat to see.

It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. The light gets really strange right before and after totality. Everything feels different. No wonder the ancients felt that this was a bad omen or a sign of the end of the world. You can't look at the Sun and see the Moon moving over it, so it just seems like the light is going away for no reason. Then, it's completely gone.

Amazing. I have no words. (Except for the ones I already typed above. :)

Just before totality, the rooster started crowing. Repeatedly. Then during totality you heard crickets instead of birds. It was neat. (And, of course, there was the plane. You want to talk about some expensive tickets!)

I know what you mean about the change in atmosphere. It was just completely different.

I think my favorite moment was just as totality ended. The first glimpse of a sliver of the sun coming back out was like a firework in the sky. There was a collective gasp of everyone gathered. It was impressive. Totally worth the traffic.

Man, I wish I was able to go outside and see it! We didn't get 100% totality here in NY, but I did see some impressive photos. It didn't get all that dark here. I went on my break at work at 2:45 and totally missed the peak of it! :sigh:

I cannot stop writing A Dream of Rain. I've thought it was basically over about three times now, and I keep having more to write! I know where the story will end, but I just can't seem to stop giving details!

It's crazy!

Goes to show that the story isn't over until you reach the end of the road - just more road than you thought there was.

As long as you're having fun, it's all good.

Oh, I am. I wonder if my readers over on ff.net are going to get sick of how long it takes to wrap everything up. :)

If it's a good story, they'll see it through to the end no matter how long it takes.

Well, I wrote quite a sappy chapter last night. It's the kind that makes you go "awwwwww!" ;D

In other news, I took a practice Praxis test this morning and I had 50+ points more than I needed to pass. So I think I'll probably be okay on the real thing next week. :)

I passed both my Praxis tests! ...well, the preliminary score indicates that I solidly passed both my Praxis tests. If I suddenly don't in three weeks (when the official scores come out), I will be very sad. :)

I had hoped so. I wasn't worried about the history test, but the physics one worried me a little bit. It was a definite relief when I got my score. :)

I haven't had any Halloween inspiration for a story this year. I've written scary/horror/suspenseful/just plain weird stories around Halloween every year for quite a while, but I've had no ideas this year. Instead, I've been rereading some of my stories. I reread my entire Knowers and Demons series and I have to say that I'm still really proud of it. Reading the stories one after the other, they hang together really well, and I like how the story progresses. If they were actually movies, I'd never be able to watch about half of them because the imagery I came up with would scare me to death to see on a screen. :)

Anyway, that's all. I just really like what I wrote.

It's a really great feeling to like what you write. I feel the same way whenever I re-read my Moving Forward series. :)
